MUSIC AT ST. PAUL'S

St. Paul’s offers opportunities for people who enjoy singing as well as for those who play instruments to share their gifts through music ministry.   Vocal solos and instrumental solos are available as the schedule allows.

2015 Senior Choir

THE SENIOR CHOIR

Membership in the Senior Choir is open, without audition, to anyone High School age and above.  While music-reading is an asset, the only requirements are commitment and willingness to learn.  The choir performs a broad range of choral literature from plainchant to contemporary. Rehearsals are held in the Sanctuary on Thursday at 7:15 p.m. from late August to mid-June.  Private vocal coaching is available free of charge to all choir members.

“The Senior Choir & Friends” presents an Advent cantata annually in December.  In October an open invitation is extended to anyone who would like join choir as a “Friend” to sing only in the cantata.  With the exception of a dress rehearsal the day befotore the performance, there are no extra rehearsals for the cantata.  All preparation is done as an extension of the regular Thursday evening rehearsal.

CHOIRS FOR YOUNG SINGERS

Children's Choir -- Membership is open to children Pre-K through Grade 3.  The choir rehearses in the Sanctuary on Sunday morning at 8:30 a.m., before Sunday School, from mid-September through May.

Junior Choir -- Membership is open to children in Grade 4 through Grade 6.  The choir rehearses in the Sanctuary on Sunday morning at 11:30 a.m., immediately after the worship service, from mid-September through May.

The Children’s Choir and Junior Choir sing several times throughout the year, including the Family Christmas Eve Candlelight/Carol Singing Service.

THE ORGANIST / CHOIR DIRECTOR

Sandra Deiter has been Organist/Choir Director since 2010.  She holds a Bachelor of Music degree in organ from Westminster Choir College of Rider University, Princeton, New Jersey.  In addition to being an experienced accompanist and solo performer, she has served as Music Director and/or Organist at churches in New Jersey and Pennsylvania for more than forty-five years.  While in New Jersey, Ms Deiter maintained an active piano studio and was a member of the Artist Faculty (organ) of Westminster Conservatory.

Organ and piano music performed at St. Paul’s also spans a broad range of literature from plainchant to the 21st century.  For special occasions, such as the Christmas Eve services, an extended prelude of organ and instrumental music is offered.
